TVStar interviews Bridget Regan

TVStar recently interviewed Bridget Regan and asked questions as posed by the fans. There's some truly original questions thrown in there, can't wait for part two.

And yes, I picked up on the whole POWERFUL MAGIC line that Zedd is partial to throwing about anytime something goes wrong too, did you? Still, it's not as bad as Shota's most recently over-used line: DO WHAT MUST BE DONE.

On to the interview...

You had lots and lots (and lots) of questions for Bridget Regan and, as promised, the lovely leading lady of Legend of the Seeker has taken the time to reply to 20-plus of them. We at TVStar.com think you'll agree that her answers are by turns fun, serious and informative -- and this is only part one of our exclusive interview.

The first-ever scene in Legend of the Seeker shows you riding a horse through a beautiful countryside, chased by ugly D'Harans. I think it drew a lot of people into the show. When you shot it, did you know that scene was, in a sense, going to introduce the show and could possibly make or break it? How much pressure did you feel shooting that scene? [darkbahamut88]

Maybe it was a bit daunting. I knew that it was the first time the audience would meet Kahlan...meet MY Kahlan. The script said, "a fierce warrior of stunning beauty and great courage." Needless to say, I had fallen in love with her, and I wanted to do her right. Do her justice. But in the last moment, I had to let that go. (I had to) concentrate on getting to the boundary and finding (Richard) and putting the book in his hands...and cantering in a corset for the first time and not falling on my bum...

IGN interviews Craig Horner

IGN recently interviewed Craig Horner about what to expect in series 2, amongst other things. Take a look for yourself and enjoy.

IGN: The love triangle that seems to be inevitable between you, Kahlan and Cara...where would you like to see that go?

Horner: I don't know if I would call it a...well, I guess it is a bit of a love triangle there. I think they might send us that way. I think they might send Richard and Cara that way. You never know. But it's a tough call. It's a massive relationship to have [Richard and Kahlan] and it's something that's beyond something sexual, because they can't really do that, so there is a really strong bond. It's really going to be hard to break those two up. But it's possible, so we'll see. [laughs]

Ken Biller's Spoiler Filled Season 2 Interview

Here's the entire spoiler filled interview titled 'Can Legend of the Seeker's Kahlan and Richard Hook Up Without Destroying the World?' that Showrunner Ken Biller did for E! Online.

Plenty of spoiler filled information about Richard and Kahlan's relationship and the Sister Nicci casting confirmation.

Season two of the syndicated fantasy series Legend of the Seeker has seriously taken things up a notch (all while keeping dastardly but dead hottie Craig Parker employed as Darken Rahl, no less!), and we are positively dying to know what happens next in the Midlands, so we dialed up show runner Ken Biller for the exclusive scoop on the remainder of season two.

Here's what we learned about the episodes to come, including the significance of Richard Cypher's (Craig Horner) detour from the throne, how Kahlan Amnell's (Bridget Regan) burden as the last Confessor could tear her away from the Seeker, and the magical loophole that might allow them to finally have some forbidden sex...

E! Online interview Bridget and Craig about series 2

E! Online recently interviewed Bridget Regan and Craig Horner about what to expect with series 2 of Legend of the Seeker. Read a quick excerpt below and then head over to their site for the good stuff. Enjoy!

So, what is to come in season two? We heard tell of leather-clad bad girls, jealous wenches and some sexy body-swapping...

Richard and Kahlan have two big problems this season: (1) They kinda opened a Hellmouth when they defeated Darken Rahl last season. Oops. (2) A Mord Sith named Cara (Tabrett Bethell) has attached herself to Richard and Kahlan's little family out of a deranged allegiance to Lord Rahl, a title that Richard inherited upon the late (evil) lord's death... Bridget Regan Interview

Alix at The TV Chick conducted a great interview with Bridget Regan recently. Don't just take my word for it though, read the excerpt below and then click the link to read it in its entirety.

What originally attracted you to the show?
Well, it was the role. The character of Kahlan was not like any part I had ever auditioned for or played. So, I was immediately drawn to it. I thought that she was really tough and kind of timeless, epic and theatrical which I really was drawn to. I went to a drama school and I grew up doing theater, so I quite liked that the show was kind of heightened and it wasn’t the sort of low energy, common chit-chat show, it was big and epic and exciting and high stakes and all that which I loved... They've posted their podcast online and now you candownload and listen to it.

This episode is one of our first in a two-part series of post Dragon*Con 2009 podcasts. This episode is the audio we were able to get while one of our podcasters, Jenn, sat on a panel for the TV series, Legend of the Seeker, based on the Terry Goodkind fantasy series called The Sword of Truth Series.

Also sitting on this panel was one of the actors from the show, Craig Parker (Darken Rahl or you may remember him as Haldir from Lord of the Rings).

New interview and series 2 info

Craig and Bridget talk to E! Online about what happened at the end of series 1 and what to expect in series 2. Most prominently, there is to be a rival for Richard's affections (as if that is going to tear Richard and Kahlan apart) and because of what happened in episode 22 - there is now a tear in the underworld.

This gives us book fans hope that it may utilise a lot of plot information from Stone of Tears! Interesting stuff.

Hulu interview: Craig Horner

Hulu.com recently interviewed Craig Horner about (what else?!) his character Richard Cypher in Legend of the Seeker TV series. He comes across really friendly in interviews; that's always a good thing! Wouldn't it be nice if we (the site) could interview Craig? He'd like us!

How did you prepare for the role of Richard? What skills did you need to learn?

In terms of action, I definitely needed a couple weeks' prep. And we've got really good stunt coordinators and horse wranglers and all that. So I had a few weeks of just prepping myself for that, because I knew it was going to be demanding and I wanted to do as many stunts as I can. I hate it when you have an action hero but when it comes to those fights scenes, you just don't believe it. And that's so important, it's just as important to be able to actually fight like a hero as it is to act like one. You don't want to rely on the stunt double. So I really wanted to do well in that, and I tried really hard.

In terms of developing the character, the book is such a good source to go to. It's kind of like told from his point of view, and you really get to go in his mind and journey... Click here for the full interview.

SF Universe: Bridget Regan

SF Universe recently had the pleasure of speaking with Bridget Regan who we all know plays Kahlan in the Legend of the Seeker. Read below for an excerpt, or click more for the full interview. She's quite lovely, isn't she? Thanks to Cynthia for the tip!

The series is based on the books of Terry Goodkind. Were you familiar with them before you started filming?

Bridget: No, no, not at all. I actually wasn’t really a huge fantasy fan but now I love it all. I think the characters are exquisite and beautiful and complex and I have fallen head over heels in love with Kahlan and that’s what makes the job so good, it’s such a great role...More.

Interview with Bridget Regan

Deamon's TV has a really sweet, awesome, nice (insert other good word here) with Bridget Regan, who plays Kahlan Amnell. In it, she talks about how she initially went about auditioning for the role of Kahlan, and how she really enjoys reading Wizard's First Rule.

There are also a couple of other interviews with Bridget Regan by SciFiWire.com and AMCTV, which we've added to our archive..

Did you read all the books from “The Sword of Truth”?

Bridget Regan: No, I read “Wizard’s First Rule” and then “Debt of Bones,” I have a lot to go, because I keep going back reading ["Wizard's First Rule"] over and over again because… - I bring the book out to set because every time there’s a guy who has been confessed on the show, they’re like “what is this?…” and then I come over and hand them the book and go “here you go, just read it” and it’s a part describing what it feels like to be confessed, and they’re like “wow, thanks” and I’m like “okay, good luck playing that now buddy” (laughs), and then they go and they do it. It’s fun to watch because I’ve confessed so many men on the show, and seeing how each of them interprets it and plays it. At first I was going “oh it should always be the same and you need to make sure there is continuity with all of them,” but now it’s like “n,o I like the idea that this magical power would affect people differently.” And you know because it draws on love, it’s cool to see how different people play how it affects them, what their idea of falling hopelessly completely in love is. ...Read More

Interview with Craig Horner

UGO recently interviewed Craig Horner. He discusses his exposure to the Sword of Truth world before he went for the role of Richard, and also talks about how fans of the books have taken to the show.

Read below for an excerpt.

UGO: What kind of reaction have you had from fans of the books?

Craig: I’ve notice a 50/50 split but I think lately fans are starting to come around to the show. I, myself, had to make the adujustment when I got the script. We love the characters and we were given permission from Terry Goodkind to work with this world and really develop it. For example we had an episode that aired a few weeks ago called “Denna” and we had a really postive repsonse from the fans. We were true to the book - the costumes and everything and we do try to give the fans a few wink winks here and there... Read more?

New articles and video interviews

We've added two new article interviews to our archive. Sci Fi.com have yet another interview with Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi, Bridget Regan and Craig Horner. View an excerpt of the interview below.

Who's your audience for Legend of the Seeker?

Tapert: Who is our audience? Our audience is people who enjoy fantasy, and if you look at motion pictures, who went to see Lord of the Rings? Who went to see Spider-Man? Who went to see Iron Man? We're entertainment in a broad fashion. It has a heart and soul for people who want to be made to feel through what they watch on television. And it also provides a visceral thrill. It's got big action set pieces. So we're hoping that the audiences who once enjoyed Hercules and Xena, which, although not that same group of people, but that same demographic, would hopefully show up for this, along with people who have clearly demonstrated over the years that there's a huge marketplace in the theatrical world for hero-driven fantasy entertainment...More?

There is also an interview with Craig Horner from Newsarama.com.

“It’s really about the characters, the relationships, the love story, the politics, and all that,” he concludes. “When you are in another world that represents nothing of what you are used to in your own life, you can escape and start believing in these characters. Before you know it, you are invested in this world and buying it. The stakes become real. Okay, sure it’s the end of the world, but you get it because you are engaged by these characters.”... More?

We've also added two new video interviews to our Media section.

Hollywood 411 interviewed Craig Horner about the show and the books, how they are similar and about the direction the show is going in.

Better.tv interviwed Bridget Regan about her role as Kahlan Amnell, not much new stuff in terms show information, but Regan does talk about how she came to audition for the role of Kahlan Amnell. Both are worth a look.

And lastly, don't forget Bridget Regan is appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show this evening in the US. Don't forget to check it out.

New York Times article and new photo

New York Times have posted an in-depth and interesting article about the Legend of the Seeker. It also includes a new photo of Zedd, which is always a good thing.

Zedd
Mr. Raimi said he became a big fan of Mr. Goodkind’s books after a friend mentioned that his son was devouring them. In particular, he said, he was attracted to the evolution of the male lead.

“He’s a boy thrust into a position of adulthood where he has to immediately become a leader and a hero,” Mr. Raimi said in a phone interview. “That is very compelling to me, especially in the context of a really fun adventure story.”

Mr. Tapert also became hooked on the story — laid out in 11 books that have sold more than 25 million copies worldwide — and saw an opening in the syndication business that had not existed in nearly a decade. ... More?

Sci Fi interview, part two

Sci Fi.com have posted up the second part of their interview with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.

They talk about working together and how much creative freedom they had when creating the television series.

As always, we've added the inteview to our article archive.

How free are you to diverge from the books--or book, since you're primarily adapting Wizard's First Rule--and maybe take those characters in another direction? Or are you planning on following them pretty closely?

Tapert: We've actually remained true to the characters, and what we've done is we've taken aspects of the book, storylines from the book, and blended those into episodes that differ from the book or run tangentially. ... We've had to, in the world of television, create events that were not portrayed in the book but still remained true to the characters, the theme and what's happening within the overarching story within the book.... Sci Fi interview with producers

Sci Fi.com have posted an interview, part 1 of 2, with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. It's quite an interesting read.

They discuss why they chose Bridget Regan to play Kahlan and what initially attracted them to create the television series.

We've archived the interview in our Article Archive section. You can read part 1 of 2 right here. Part 2 of 2 will be posted tomorrow.

Keeping with Kahlan, what was it about Bridget that drew you to her for the role?

Raimi: Rob was the one who found Bridget and showed her to me. He'll have to say how he originally discovered her, but when I saw her I just thought that she was ... I believed her. I believed the things that she said. Obviously, she's striking. She's quite beautiful to look at, but a lot of actresses are beautiful. But she made these fantastic situations and fantasy situations, ... she grounded them by being very human and real. And when she expressed emotion, I was moved by her, and I believed her, and I thought we couldn't ask for anything more. Because these are stories of friendship and loyalty and self-sacrifice. And if you don't really believe the people in the center of the characters--if you don't really believe that they're rooted and someone really exists in a three-dimensional way--then those stories won't have the weight. It won't work at all. So it was her, I guess, ability to just convey that she was a solid, soulful individual. That's what convinced me. But Rob, how did you come upon her? ... More?
